La Cassera
The situation in the creative industries
Across every corner of the creative industries, including architecture, film, media, design, fashion, art, museums, research, business development etc. profound changes are unfolding. The professionals I work with are often navigating the tension between finding a professional stance that serves the form of quality they aspire, their wish to serve the organisational context they work in, and the drive towards innovation. Innovation on both a structural level and relation to content.
Effective leadership is never one-size-fits-all — it is always shaped by the specific context in which we work. And one of the greatest resources for people in the creative fields is learning from each other’s experiences - because this helps us understand the value of our own position and gives us new ideas to how we can grow.
LEADERSHIPÂ
When we step into leadership, as we need to do again and again in our professional lives, our personal agency becomes visible — and we encounter ourselves anew. Facing ourselves in relation to how we manage our work gives new perspectives on our leadership profile. Taking what we see seriously can turn challenges into opportunities for growth and transformation.
The course is grounded in a practical, purposeful view on leadership: leadership as the intentional act of making things happen through and with others in projects that develop as we transform ourselves.Â
As a creative professional embracing leadership, this process will facilitate your exploration on how you want to take on your role. We will help you tune into your agency within your field the way you want and find valuable.

The theoretical perspective on leadership you will be introduced to during the course will help you understand yourself as a change maker. You will be supported in reflecting on how your leadership shapes the environment around you as well as how your environment facilitates (and influences) your work.
Drawing from systems thinking, psychoanalysis, social theory, organisational psychology and leadership literature the course will present contemporary ideas about how we organise and perform as members of both social and non-human systems. You will be presented to ideas of agential realism, situated knowledges, and geontologies to facilitate a thinking of how we are entangled in our professional material-discursive practices, and are called to find our own ethical position.
The philosophical base of the course will be translated into actionable and understandable concepts that will give us a common language to discuss and understand the individual leadership projects in relation to.
Everyone meeting the requirements for participation listed below can participate and there is no expectation of prior knowledge.
